Our Story

How It All Began...

The Beginning
It all started in 1888 when a husband & wife team left central Illinois to head south to Kentucky. God had placed it on their heart to bring the message of "Salvation & Sanctification" to Kentucky. That year they started holding meetings and the "First Free Methodist Church" was born.
In 1950 The First Free Methodist Church of Bowling Green was able to build a building at the corner of 14th & Indianola St.

Early Life...
In 1984 the "First Free Methodist Church" moved from Indianola St. With a heart for all people they moved to the heart of Downtown Bowling Green. They changed the name to "Fountain Square Church" and renovated the old  State Theater @929 College St.

What We Are Doing Today...

We Changed our name to "Fountain Square Ministries" to better reflect the many ways we reach out to the community. The focus is still the Saving Message of the Gospel and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. As we witness lives being changed by the power of God we provide a church family that will walk with them in their new life in Christ.
